About Teacher Mike
I’m Teacher Mike, an English teacher from the UK. I’ve been teaching since 2017, working with learners from age 4 right up to adults in large international and private schools, and these days mostly online.
I hold a 200-hour Advanced TEFL certificate accredited by ACCREDITAT, and before teaching I took a degree in Web and Multimedia with Marketing. The two halves work well together: the teacher decides what a lesson needs, and the developer builds it.
Over eight years I’ve taught every level and age group, with a soft spot for teenagers and upper-intermediate learners who are ready to push on. Most of my students are in China and Singapore, and I’ve spent plenty of time teaching Thai learners too.
A teacher who builds his own tools
I don’t just teach with off-the-shelf materials. I build my own. My interactive HTML lessons are designed screen-first for online teaching, with audio, images and answer-checking built into a single file. And when I couldn’t find the classroom tools I wanted, I made Classistant, a companion app for teachers everywhere.
Everything I make follows the same principle: it should work straight away, look inviting and never get in the way of actual teaching. British English throughout, naturally.
